Fused silica is high-purity quartz sand that has been melted to form glass. Its high volume stability, low volumetric expansion, and high purity make it a versatile material for refractory applications.
Raw Material Selection
We strictly choose high-purity silica sand (SiO2 > 99%) from Donghai/Xinyi as our raw material.
Manufacturing Process
The silica sand is melted at high temperatures (2000-2300 ºC) to form amorphous silicon dioxide glassy ingots, which are then cooled. The products are further processed into fused silica lumps, sand, and powder according to customer requirements.

Fused Silica Making Process
Fused Silica is produced from high purity crystal silica by electrically fusing it at temperatures between 1800-2000ºC. The resulting amorphous Silicon dioxide is then engineered into various forms such as lumps, cullet, ingots, sand, grain, granular, and powder flour. These forms are specifically designed for creating PV fused silica crucibles, thermal ceramics, refractories, EMC investment casting ceramic shells, and more.
Fused Silica Sand Appearance and Specifications:
- No unfused parts are allowed.
- No foreign materials like string, plastic, carbon, wood, metal, or other contaminants are permitted.
- Only conditional black dots are acceptable, with a maximum diameter of 2mm.
- Total black dots should be less than 10 per square meter.
